During the Second World War, the notorious Amsterdam criminal Dries Riphagen worked fanatically with the Nazis. But when he betrays an important resistance group, the young police officer and resistance fighter Jan van Liempd opens the hunt for him.

Now that Jan's resistance group has been betrayed, he vows revenge on Riphagen. The problem is that Riphagen fled to the east of the country after Mad Tuesday.
