
New Scotland Yard
New Scotland Yard is a police drama series produced by London Weekend Television for ITV from 1972 and 1974. It features the activities of two officers from the Criminal Investigations Department in the Metropolitan Police force headquarters at New Scotland Yard, as they dealt with the assorted villains of the day.

Air Date: 1972-04-22
Violence flares up when a student protest meets a counter-demonstration. A young protestor is killed by a blow to the head. The nearest to the body is a mounted Officer Tyrell. DCS John Kingdom now faces a difficult case, where strong evidence accumulates against a brother policeman.
2. The Comeback
Air Date: 1972-04-29
A retired bank manager is murdered in a seemingly motiveless killing. Then, a second murder is committed, and Kingdom, together with his journalist brother-in-law Harry Carson, discovers a possible motive which might also pose a threat to Kingdom's life.
3. Memory of a Gauntlet
Air Date: 1972-05-06
A postman is found murdered by his wife, his body surrounded by Nazi emblems and insignia; it looks like a murder committed by a fanatical ex-Nazi hunter. Kingdom persuades a reporter to splash the story. It has the required effect, and stirs up an ugly situation.
4. The Palais Romeo
Air Date: 1972-05-13
When a woman is found dead on a canal towpath, Kingdom finds himself investigating the third of a series of murders. All the victims are attractive middle-aged women and, despite Inspectors Ward's scepticism, Kingdom becomes obsessed with his theory the murderer is a young man. As the case continues, Ward becomes more and more convinced that Kingdom is on the wrong track.
5. Hard Contract
Air Date: 1972-05-20
As he investigates two murders, Kingdom discovers that both victims had recently returned from abroad, and both were shot by the same gun. When a third shooting takes place, his research reveals they are linked.
6. Shock Tactics

Kingdom is faced with a bizarre and perplexing case when a man calls the police to report that he has killed his wife — by a practical joke.
7. The Wrong 'Un

A prison inmate dies from a knife wound; it appears to be a clear case. But Kingdom finds that conducting an investigation in a prison is far from easy. After all, those inside have nothing to lose.

Suspected arsonist Arthur Jones is being questioned about a series of fires in betting shops and gambling clubs. When the Cloud Seven Club is burnt down, a body is discovered and murder is possibly afoot.

Kingdom investigates the murder of couturier Damon Greville, found at the wheel of his car. Details of Greville's finances soon lead to a possible motive.

A girl is found murdered on a rubbish dump, and Kingdom's investigation leads him into the world of drop-outs. As he builds a picture of the dead girl and searches for a motive, one question haunts: why was her body placed in that particular location?

When a girl is found murdered, a local man becomes the victim of village gossips. And when their vitriolic tongues drive the man to a desperate decision, the reason plants in Kingdom's mind a doubt about the wisdom of the law he serves.

Bowers has been building a criminal empire along the lines set down by notorious names of the recent past; repeated attempts to nail him have failed. So when he becomes a likely suspect in the murder of a small-time crook, Kingdom and Ward lose no time in trying to put a case against him.

Arthur and Daniel, two down-and-outs, are squatting in a condemned house. Finally, after a quarrel, Arthur dosses down in a basement car park between a block of flats. It is there that his dead body is discovered by a caretaker.

Kingdom leaves home in the small hours, and his wife is disturbed to see that he is armed. But that is nothing compared to her alarm when an intruder later enters her bedroom.
8. Error of Judgement

Twelve years ago, Thomas Stevens was hanged for murder, protesting his innocence to the last. A campaign committee, including Members of Parliament, is now bringing attention to this possible miscarriage of justice. When an MP is killed, Kingdom and Ward investigate.

Kingdom's enquirers into a stolen car racket leads him to the chief suspect. But too late to prevent a calculated murder from taking place.

2. Diamonds Are Never Forever

Two masked men burst into the home of wealthy jeweller Elliot Ryan and his wife Carlotta, and rob them of many valuable items. Kingdom and Ward suspect the job was set up by someone who knew Ryan's habits. And who is the photographer taking pictures of Carlotta and her lover?
3. Bullet in a Haystack

William Radkin is found dead by the sitting room window. Kingdom and Ward find that he was killed by a .22 bullet, fired from outside. Meanwhile, a known pickpocket is brought into a police station and the contents of his pocket reveal a possible link with Radkin's death.
4. Weight of Evidence

As Mrs Penton cashes a cheque, she sees three men putting on masks in the lobby. She notices one in particular, Eddie, donning a Dracula mask. But as she turns away, it is momentarily removed from him by another of the men. The bank is robbed, the men later caught and tried.
5. Crossfire
Air Date: 1973-07-21
Sebastian Barrios is an Ambassador of Guantala, a South American republic, living in London with his wife Candida and son Manuel. Candida receives a telephone call from Manuel, announcing that he has been kidnapped. But investigation prove that it was not entirely a political kidnapping.
6. Property, Dogs and Women
Air Date: 1973-07-28
A group of carolers are attacked by young thugs; a shop window is broken; and a small boy seriously injured. Kingdom and Ward investigate – and in doing so discover problems of morals and discipline within the division responsible for the area.
7. Exchange Is No Robbery
Air Date: 1973-08-04
Kingdom is investigating a major bank robbery. He's assisted by Regional Crime Squad, and in particular by CS Piggott; the two men were at Training School together and have disliked each other ever since. Piggott is known to be after Kingdom's job, and it seems he might achieve his aim.
8. Daisy Chain
Air Date: 1973-08-11
Double dealing and double death, a local J.P is found murdered, then a bulldozer uncovers the skeleton of a girl. Kingdom and Ward face the task of putting the links together.
9. Don't Go Out Alone
Air Date: 1973-08-18
A rich, middle-aged American woman spends an evening with a young man supplied by an escort agency. The following morning, she's found murdered and her jewellery stolen. During their investigation, Kingdom and Ward uncover an unexpected connection with the foreign office.

Civil servant Weston calls at a colleague's flat and is let in by a porter. They discover chaos and a dead body. On the desk are confidential files; should Weston cover up for his friend?

Kingdom is called to a suburban home, where Sidney Preece has been shot whist with his wife and two neighbours. Kingdom joins in a house-to-house search, and a front door is opened by an old girlfriend of his; she becomes an important witness.

A Constable painting, stolen from a private collection, turns up on an easel in the Hartmann Gallery. Louis Hartmann himself lies dead at the foot of the stairs.
13. Pier
Air Date: 1973-09-15
Kingdom and Angela have hit a crisis in their marriage. Needing space, she decides to visit Margate — only for Kingdom to be sent there on a murder case.
1. Comeback
Air Date: 1974-04-13
Borstal boy Roper is found stabbed near his home. When Clay and Dexter arrive in the West Country to investigate, they find several suspects with strong motives for the killing including the boy's parents.
2. The Trojan Horse

A lorry driver is killed while trying to stop the theft of his load. From evidence received and the knowledge gained from an informant, Clay decides it is one of a series of hijacking so organised by the same gang.

Dexter investigates a burglary at an elderly couple's home. Soon afterwards, a valuable piece of Chinese porcelain is reported missing – and a burglar is found dead at the mansion of a music industry mogul.

When a teenage girl is found murdered on Hampstead Heath, businessman Herbert Morris is identified as the man seen talking to her shortly before her death. After an interrogation, Clay and Dexter clash over Morris's apparent guilt.

Joe Warner is released from prison after 15 years for armed robbery. His wife Polly has deserted him – and now he's determined to enact brutal revenge.
6. All That Glitters

Two seamen steal bars of gold from a makeshift strongroom as a cargo ship nears the Thames estuary. When the ship docks, Clay and Dexter investigate and find a steward has also vanished.
7. A Year to Kill

Dexter and Clay investigate the suspicious death of teacher Graham Pitman in the science laboratory. But then two teenagers come forward to confess.
