Biography

Jack Cosgrove (c. 1931–2014) was an American cinematographer, documentary filmmaker, and television producer whose career spanned more than five decades. Beginning as a U.S. Army photographer in postwar Germany, he transitioned to television in the 1950s at WTVT in Tampa, Florida, where he pioneered innovative film techniques, including time-lapse cameras and complex optical effects for news and educational programs. Cosgrove later worked on commercial productions, documentaries, and high-profile expeditions, including serving as cameraman for Mike Harris’s 1980/1981 Titanic searches. He continued producing and filming projects well into his seventies, documenting historical and scientific subjects worldwide. Jack Cosgrove passed away on January 28, 2014, at the age of 82.
