Biography

Shin Takagi, known by the ring name Shingo Takagi, is a Japanese professional wrestler who debuted in October 2004 with Dragon Gate Japan Pro-Wrestling (DG), where he became a four-time Open the Dream Gate Champion, a one-time Open the Owarai Gate Champion, a seven-time Open the Triangle Gate Champion, and a five-time Open the Twin Gate Champion. He signed with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) in 2018, where he is a one-time IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, a one-time IWGP Intercontinental Champion, a five-time NEVER Openweight Champion, a one-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion with BUSHI, a one-time NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champion with BUSHI and EVIL, and a two-time NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling Champion. He has also competed for Ring of Honor (ROH), All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW), and various Japanese independents. Takagi has been widely praised for his in-ring ability throughout his career in both Dragon Gate and NJPW. Early in his career, he was voted Rookie of the Year in the 2005 Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards. In 2021, he placed 9th on the Pro Wrestling Illustrated PWI 500, received the MVP Award at the Tokyo Sports Puroresu Awards, and was voted Most Outstanding Wrestler and Japanese wrestling’s Most Valuable Player by readers of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Takagi married fellow Japanese professional wrestler Natsupoi in 2025.
